You will need to be empathetic whilst also being able to deal with potentially difficult situations sensitively. You will need to have strong communication skills along with the ability to keep calm under pressure.
Before you apply, you will need to have completed the necessary training (usually a bachelor’s degree in nursing) and have a minimum of 6 months professional experience as a nurse.
As directed by the UK Government, you will also need to demonstrate you have the necessary English language skills to perform your role as nurse. If you are applying from outside the EU, you will need to pass the International English language Testing System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET), meeting the minimum standards set by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).
